Cardamom prices gained Rs 5.40 to Rs 1,343 per kg in futures trade on Tuesday, supported by rising demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from the producing region.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for March contract gained Rs 5.40, or 0.40 per cent to Rs 1,343.00 per kg, with a business volume of single lot.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April contract edged up by Rs 3.70, or 0.16 per cent, to Rs 1,380 per kg in one lot, with an open interest of one lot.

Market analysts said rising demand and the ongoing marriage season led to the decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.
