The Union Cabinet on Thursday postponed a decision to finalise a symbol for the rupee. The rupee is set to to get its unique symbol as and when the Cabinet approves it. Once approved, the rupee will join the league of global currencies like US dollar ($), British pound sterling (?), euro and Japanese yen (?) which have their own unique symbols. The government has reportedly shortlisted five entries after a pan-India contest conducted by the finance ministry.
