The indefinite strike by major BSNL engineers demanding absorption of officers on deputation entered the third day but the state-run telecom major said services were unaffected in most parts of the country.

“The on-going strike by a section of executives in BSNL did not have any impact on BSNL operations. The services remained normal throughout the country,” state-run BSNL said in a statement.

BSNL had claimed that services were normal during strike in past two days by non-executive employees demanding wage revision.

The BSNL engineers union, the All-India Graduate Telecom Officers Association of Engineers, however, said customer care services, online operations and repair work have been affected due to the strike.

“Adequate arrangements have been made by the BSNL to ensure that telecom services remain uninterrupted. For this purpose, a control room has also been set up by BSNL at its corporate office and in field units to continuously monitor the situation,” the BSNL statement said.

BSNL offers telecom services across the country except in Delhi and Mumbai, where MTNL is the operator.
