Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG), representing 750 members, covering the entire gamut of Dubai?s gold and jewellery trade, has unveiled massive promotions for the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2008.

The special offers include winnings worth 32 kg of gold, which is 1 kg gold daily for every day of the 32-day-long festival, starting from January 24 to February 24, 2008.

?More than 350 gold jewellery retail outlets in Dubai are expected to take part in the promotion. DSF 2008 is expected to generate AED 850 million in gold jewellery sales,? Paresh Dalal, treasurer of DGJG told FE.

DGJG has started roadshows in Kochi and Mumbai.

?I don?t think rising gold prices will affect our jewellery sales. In fact, gold prices have been moving upward only since the last three-four years; and we have witnessed our sales rising. Also, we are expecting record tourist inflow during this festival time and visitors will have a wide range of choices of world-class jewellery designs, say from Asian, European, African and others,? he said.

This year also, every raffle coupon obtained on AED 500 worth (Rs 5,500) of jewellery purchases, which makes them eligible to win 1 kg of gold daily.

The thirteenth edition of DSF 2008 has attracted over 27 sponsors that represent leading companies locally and regionally to reach out to all market segments.

This edition will focus on three key elements that have come to characterise the event – shopping, winning, and family entertainment.

Dubai received an overwhelming 3.5 million visitors during the 45 days of non-stop festivities in DSF 2006-07, registering a 7% increase over DSF 2005.
