Even as row over opening of the much-awaited Bengaluru International Airport continues, civil aviation sources have said that a final decision would be announced in a week?s time. ?The decision is not with us alone. A technical review of the project is being carried out. If the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) feels that the airport is ready, then there is nothing to stop it from being opened,? top civil aviation ministry sources told FE.

As per the original schedule, the Prime Minister was expected to inaugurate the airport on March 28 and the first commercial flight was to take off on March 30.

The latest dispute is regarding the technical readiness of the Bengaluru International Airport and its air-worthiness. Ministry sources said, the Centre was working with the nodal agency, Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), to meet the scheduled deadlines.
