The Punjab government on Friday decided in principle to set up a state-of-the-art institute of hotel management (IHM) at Bathinda.

A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Bada. It was also decided to get the Institute of Hotel Management Catering and Nutrition Society, Bathinda, registered forthwith so that funds to the tune of Rs10 crore, to be received from the Centre, could be transferred to the society for the timely implementation of the project.

Taking part in the deliberations, the chief minister directed the finance department to allocate state’s share as a matching grant for this project. Badal, in a telephonic conversation with tourism minister Ambika Soni, urged her for granting early clearances from the Centre.
