A slew of international brands using future technology may soon enter India after showcasing it in neighbouring China. Sample this: Coca-Cola?s super chilled technology that freezes the soft drinks within the bottle on opening may become a reality in the country soon after its selective roll out across handful of countries.
Also, Canon?s single lens wonder camera with super-high resolution that will make still photography obsolete is also on its way to the market. So is the Panasonic life wall with face recognition technology that will convert the entire wall in a room into a television screen. Also, the US auto major General Motors may showcase its latest electric concept car ? the EN-V or Electric Networked-Vehicle ? in auto expo next year. FE sampled all these future technology that are currently on display in the Shanghai Expo in China, the worlds biggest trade expo in recent times.
The main attraction of the US-based soft drink giant Coca-Cola is the super chill technology that freezes the beverage when the bottle is opened. Launched selectively across Mexico, Hong Kong, France, UK and Thailand, the super chill vending machines are positioned as a teen drink.
?The revolutionary technology chills the drink when the bottle cap is turned, enabling consumers to enjoy the original taste of ice crystal Coca-Cola chilled at minus 6 degrees Celsius,? a company executive told FE. When asked if it would be launched in India too, the executive said: ?I don?t see why not. While the top brass at Coca-Cola?s Atlanta office will take a call on India launch, the technology is mainly targeted at teens, young adults, and active people whose lifestyles are always on the move. And therefore India can be a good fit for this technology,? the Coke?s representative said. According to Coca-Cola, the drink can be retained at minus six degree celsius for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, Japanese major Canon is pretty confident that its revolutionary futuristic wonder camera will have takers across the globe, including India. Its wonder camera will be single lens capable of going from macro shots all the way out to a 5,000 mm focal length. This means the consumer has to just point and shoot the video without worrying about zooming in our out. The captured pictures could be magnified nearly 5,000 times without any distortion, making still cameras almost obsolete. This product may soon be showcased in the country in the trade fair.
Panasonic, too, is keen on bring its prototype Panasonic Life Wall in India. The life wall is literally a wall in the house that doubles as a screen. Panasonic uses its face recognition technology to follow the viewer around the room, adjusting its screen size according to the viewers distance from the wall. ?Our goal is to give the viewer the best seat in the house, regardless of location,? a Panasonic representative told FE at the Shanghai Expo. While the concept was released two years ago by Panasonic, its anticipated release date is still not known.
Also on way is the General Motors new electric concept car EN-V, the two-seater car that would be networked with other cars to help avoid accidents and ease traffic. And as the car is 1.5 metre X 1.5 metre or about one-third the length of a standard passenger car, there?s a possibility of consumers being able to park it inside their houses. It runs on battery cells with maximum speed of 40 km per hour and , weighs 400 kgs. It features autonomous driving technology that allows the car to drive by itself using an elaborate system of GPS, digital maps, sensors and cameras. The auto expo in the capital next year may host this futuristic car, GM?s china executives said.
