India’s renewable energy sector saw significant growth in the first half of 2026, with solar and wind electricity generation increasing by 25%. This brought their share in the country’s power supply mix to 16.5%. However, coal-fired generation also saw a 3.5% rise due to higher electricity demand. Overall, renewables have overtaken in electricity consumption, which grew by 6%.
