The southwest monsoon has been slow this year, with cumulative rainfall at just 37.9% below the benchmark LPA. All regions except the northwest have seen a serious deficiency, leading to a decline in early sowing of kharif crops. However, the IMD predicts a revival of the monsoon in the next few days, with heavy rainfall expected in some parts of the country.
