Savings equivalent to 10,836 MW of power generation were made in the 11th Five-Year Plan period, which led to savings worth R3,000 crore annually on account of policies related to energy efficiency.

?During the 11th Plan period, policies to reduce energy have led to savings equivalent to 10,836 MW of avoided power generation which, in monetary terms, has resulted in annual savings of about R3,000 crore,? President Pranab Mukherjee said at the presentation of the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards in the Capital on Monday.

Emphasising that the ?sustainability movement? in our country is now coming of age, Mukherjee said the framework of ?Triple Bottom Line? objectives of creating shareholder value and building social and environmental capital is finding broad-based support.
