As criminals in Uttar Pradesh are wreathing under the horrors of the crackdown ordered by Yogi government, the perpetrators had started using new tactics to escape the harsh punishment. Following some incidents the UP police taking a jibe at the criminals tweeted from their official handle, ” Police se nahi, Crime se darr lagta hai (I am cared of crime, not police), ” read the tweet. With the tweet, the UP Police official handle also shared an image showing the transformation among some of the criminals. The tweet comes after two criminals from UP’s Kairana town were seen donning placards which read they won’t get involved in any crime in the future and hence be forgiven. It further read that from now on they will be earning money by fair means. The offenders, Salim Ali and Irshad Ahmad, who are accused in several cases of loot and murder were jailed and are repeat offenders. They also handed over an affidavit to Shamli SP Ajay Pal Sharma.

Yogi government’s crackdown is the main reason why some want to leave the crime world and enter a life of sincere living. In the recent time, Uttar Pradesh has seen a number of encounters between police and criminals where earlier this month UP saw 38 encounter killings. The killings by the state police took place within the period of 10 months since Yogi Adityanath-led government assumed charge. Most of the encounters took place in Lucknow, Shamli, Saharanpur, Bulandshahr, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Gorakhpur, Hapur, Kanpur and Meerut.

It was also reported that between March 20, 2017 to January 31 this year atleast 1,142 encounters have been recorded. On Thursday CM informed the state Legislative Council that 40 criminals have been killed in 1,200 encounters in the state. He also stated that showing mercy or sympathy to such criminals is dangerous for the democracy. CM Adityanath too had said that criminals in the state should be answered in a language that they understood. At an event, he said criminals who believe in gun should be answered back with a gun. Since Yogi government came to power, it has been in continuous criticism regarding the staggering number of encounters in UP. The Opposition too has not spared the state government on this issue and have raised the matter in Assembly and Parliament.
