The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its eighth list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The latest list comprises 11 candidates from three states. Bhartruhari Mahtab, a six-time MP who recently defected from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), will contest from Cuttack.
Preneet Kaur, a suspended Congress MP and spouse of former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, will run in Patiala. Kaur, a four-time MP and ex-Union minister, switched allegiance to the saffron party amidst senior leaders at the BJP headquarters.
Ravneet Singh Bittu, a three-time Congress MP and grandson of former Punjab CM Beant Singh, will contest from Ludhiana, while former AAP member Sushil Kumar Rinku is nominated in Jalandhar. Additionally, Dinesh Singh ‘Babbu’, Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Hans Raj Hans will vie for Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Faridkot, respectively.
The BJP on Sunday named two candidates from West Bengal, three from Odisha and six from Punjab. It has so far announced its candidates for 411 seats.
