In a shocking case of cruelty to animals, 5 minor boys burned 3 puppies alive in Pathanwadi area of Hyderabad and one them even shot a video of this callous, even criminal act. The case has sparked outrage on the social media.
This senseless act of cruelty comes close in the wake of another such incident in which a man throws a dog off a building.
Musheerabad Police Station registered a case, but initially it was against unknown persons. The boys were roaming around free even though it should not have been difficult to find them. The case was regsitered at the instigation of the People for Animals under Sections 429 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 11/A, 11/L of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

However, cops did eventually get a hold of them and they have now been sent for counseling as they are minors.
In the video the boys can be seen holding the puppies by the tail and then tying them up before setting them aflame in a trash bin. The video also captures the heart-rending attempts of the puppies to crawl out of the inferno and their cries of pain. The entire episode is worse than shocking. The boy who was shooting the video was actually ordering others how to go about setting the puppies alight.
What is even more shocking is that the boys kept pushing the puppies back into the fire with sticks till they were finally dead. And that torture lasted for a long, long time.
The incident came to light after the boys uploaded the video on the social media alerting the animal welfare groups to the crime who then rushed to the police.
However, this is not a stray incident. In Delhi a man had killed dogs mercilessly some months ago, while in an area near Chennai as many as 50 dogs were burnt alive.
