The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has reached to a thrilling stage as South Africa and the United Arab Emirates prepare to face each other in an important Group D match in Delhi. Both teams want to end their campaigns on a positive note, but their journeys in the tournament have been very different so far.
South Africa are coming into this match in excellent form. The Proteas are currently at the top of Group D with three wins from three matches. They have comfortably beaten Canada and New Zealand and earned a Super Over-win against Afganistan to seal a place for Super Eights.
Their batting has been strong right from the start. Captain Aiden Markram has set the example by scoring quick and attacking runs at the top. Ryan Rickelton and David Miller have also played important innings and supported the team well.
In bowling, Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi and Keshav Maharaj have picked up wickets regularly and kept the opposition’s score under control.
With six points and a very good net run rate South Africa look like one of the strong teams in the race for the title.
On the other hand, United Arab Emirates had a more difficult tournament. They have won one match and lost two until now and won’t proceed further to the next stage of the tournament. India’s only victory came against Canada in an exciting match where they successfully chased the target of 150 runs and won by five wickets.
The team also gave Afghanistan a tough fight but ended up losing by five wickets after a close contest.
UAE’s batting has shown some good signs. Sohaib Khan and Aryansh Sharma have scored important runs in the middle order. Their bowling led by Junaid Siddique has shown quality at times but they have struggled to stay consistent against stronger teams.
