A 22-year-old woman was killed while at least six people were injured after a speeding taxi rammed into locals at Budh Bazaar in Delhi’s Ghazipur on Wednesday evening.
The incident took place at around 9.30 pm. The CCTV footage of the incident showed a high-speed car ramming into people who were busy shopping. The impact was so strong that some of the victims were tossed in the air for a while and fell on the road. Within seconds, the car could be seen dangerously swerving through the narrow and busy road, with the people chasing it on foot.

The taxi was on its way to Mayur Vihar Phase 3, when the driver, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, rammed his car into the crowded Budh Bazaar area.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sita Devi, a resident of Ghaziabad in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
The driver was caught by the crowd and handed over to the police.
Reacting to the incident, AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar said, “An accident occurred near Mayur Vihar’s Ryan School. The driver was inebriated and ran over several people, killing one person. This is a tragic incident.”
The driver of the car also sustained injuries in the incident and was admitted to a hospital for medical treatment.
