esidents of Delhi woke up to a chilly Thursday as the temperature dropped to 9.2 degrees Celsius, marking the capital’s first sub-10-degree Celsius reading for the year, which is two notches below the season average.

The IMD forecasts clear skies throughout the day, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 26 degrees Celsius, as PTI reported.

In various areas of Delhi, temperatures dipped: 9.2 degrees Celsius in Safdarjung, 10.4 degrees in Lodhi Road, while Jafarpur, Mungeshpur, and Narela reported 11.2, 11.3, and 12.1 degrees Celsius, respectively.

On Wednesday, Delhi witnessed a maximum temperature of 25.7 degrees Celsius, slightly below normal, while the air quality persisted in the “very poor” category. At 5:30 pm, relative humidity stood at 65 per cent. The weather office predicted mainly clear skies and haze during the day, with Delhi’s 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 394 by 4 pm, as PTI reported.

Across Delhi-NCR, maximum temperatures ranged between 26.7 and 27.6 degrees Celsius.

IMD predicts rain on November 27

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released its latest bulletin, suggesting potential weather changes in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar due to an approaching western disturbance. Rain is expected in Delhi-NCR on November 27.

IMD scientist Kuldeep Srivastava suggested that Thursday’s minimum temperature might remain around 10 degrees Celsius. However, any further decline is improbable owing to an anticipated shift in wind patterns.

The met department forecasts a chance of drizzle in certain parts of Delhi on November 27 due to an approaching western disturbance affecting the National Capital Region (NCR). Srivastava underscored the disturbance’s impact on Rajasthan, the western Himalayan region, and south Haryana on November 26 and 27 before reaching Delhi.

This will impact Delhi on November 27, with chances of a drizzle in some parts, he said.

Delhi usually experiences sub-10-degree temperatures towards November end. Last year, the lowest minimum for November was 7.3 degrees Celsius on November 29.
