Mumbai’s Central Railway has announced a mega block on Sunday on key suburban rail sections, affecting multiple local train services across the city. The block will be imposed to carry out essential engineering and maintenance work, resulting in cancellations and diversions that commuters need to plan around.

According to the announcement, the block will be in force on the Main Line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai, India and Vidyavihar, Mumbai, India from 10:55 am to 3:55 pm on Sunday.

Services on the slow lines in both directions will be suspended to facilitate maintenance work on tracks and signalling infrastructure. During this period, some slow services will be diverted to fast lines, while others will be cancelled to ensure safety and uninterrupted work execution.

Some local stations to see temporary suspension of train stoppages

Local stations including Masjid, Sandhurst Road, Chinchpokli, Kari Road and Vidyavihar will see temporary suspension of local train stoppages due to the absence of fast-line platforms at these stops.

Railway authorities have advised passengers to plan their travel in advance, especially those with fixed-time commitments such as office duties, examinations or medical appointments.

Harbour and Trans-Harbour routes also affected

The disruption is not limited to the Main Line. On the Harbour Line between Panvel, India and Vashi, India, local services will also be affected during the maintenance window, with several trains cancelled in both directions.

Additionally, services on the Trans-Harbour Line between Panvel and Thane, India will remain suspended for much of the block period, affecting connectivity for commuters travelling across Navi Mumbai and the eastern suburbs.

To ease commuter inconvenience, Central Railway plans to operate special local services on certain unaffected sections, such as between CSMT and Vashi, and between Thane and Vashi/Nerul.

Furthermore, Trans-Harbour Line services will remain operational on other segments outside the block window. Railway officials have urged daily passengers to check revised schedules in advance and adjust their plans accordingly.
