New models such as the Tata Sierra, Mahindra 9S and XUV 7XO, the updated Renault Duster, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Victoris have arrived at just the right time. These launches have caught the attention of buyers and received strong booking responses, much like the festive buzz during Diwali.

Tata Sierra and Maruti Victoris have each received close to 75,000 bookings, while Mahindra has gone a step further with more than 93,000 combined bookings for the 9S and XUV 7XO. This clearly shows that demand in the market has returned and is also reflected in January sales figures. Speaking to NDTV Profit after the company’s third-quarter results, Executive Director Rahul Bharti said that around 35,000 Victoris units have already been delivered.
The strong response to the Sierra is expected to help Tata Motors perform better than its competitors, with an estimated year-on-year growth of 27 percent. Other carmakers are also likely to report positive growth numbers.
Two-wheeler demand
Demand for two-wheelers, especially in the entry-level segment, had remained weak before the GST rate cuts due to rising costs over the past few years.
