Electric vehicle maker Tesla which is expected to announce its ambitious plans for India this month, has already signed a strategic sourcing partnership with Tata Electronics for semiconductors as per a report by The Economic Times.

The report further states that the deal was executed discreetly, indicating that Tesla is looking beyond just manufacturing electric vehicles in India. It aims to also have a robust supply chain.

It was just last week that Elon Musk confirmed his visit to India and his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The meeting is expected to see Musk announce Tesla’s official plans for India, and also potential of introducing Starlink broadband services in the country.

Industry observers have been long expecting Tesla to establish a presence in India, which would while not bring high volumes immediately, but mark its commitment to the world’s third largest market.
