Delhi saw EVs make up for 20% of new vehicle sales in December, highest amongst any state in India says Kailash Gahlot

Delhi has been witnessing a steady rise in terms of new electric vehicle registrations on the back of various factors including the EV Policy first introduced in 2020.

The share of electric vehicles touched 19.5 percent in new vehicle sales in New Delhi, the highest share recorded amongst any state in the country till date said Kailash Gahlot, Transport Minister of Delhi.

In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) the Minister said a total of 657,312 vehicles were registered in the month of December in Delhi. Of which, a total 73,610 vehicles were electric.

In fact, Delhi has been witnessing a steady rise in terms of new electric vehicle registrations on the back of various factors including the EV Policy first introduced in 2020. Since then, the government has through various measures and tools at its disposal tried to promote the usage of green vehicles.

The Policy which was originally planned till August 2023, has got numerous extensions and the state government is also working on introducing the 2.0 version of the EV policy soon.
