Lets begin – Over the past one and a half months, more than 13 lakh commuters have used QR-coded tickets on the Sector Five-Sealdah and Esplanade-Howrah Maidan stretches of the Kolkata Metro, as reported by Metro Railway spokesperson Kausik Mitra on Tuesday. From April 1 to May 13, a total of 13,19,173 paper-based QR tickets were sold at various ticket counters for Sector Five-Sealdah and Esplanade-Howrah Maidan (Green Line 2), according to an official statement. Now news related to Lok Sabha polls 2024 – A total of 141 out of the 866 candidates contesting in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections have declared serious criminal cases against themselves, according to a report. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 866 out of 869 candidates, who are contesting in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha polls. Of the 866 candidates, 180 have declared criminal cases against them, which accounts for 21 per cent, while 12 candidates have declared cases where they have been convicted. Six candidates contesting in the sixth phase have declared cases related to murder (IPC Section -302) against themselves, while 21 candidates have declared cases related to attempt to murder (IPC Section 307) against themselves.
