The former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has blamed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for a prosecution complaint filed against him in a foreign assets tax evasion case by the Income Tax department. The I-T department on Friday filed the complaint agianst the Congress leader. Soon after this, Singh turned to his official Twitter account to response and said that the complaint was the result of challenging Jaitley to fight by-0elections in Amritsar.

Amarinder tweeted “I challenged @arunjaitley (Arun Jaitley) to fight by-elections in Amritsar and this is how he responds. So predictable!”

It may be mentioned here that in the 2014 general election, Jaitley had lost from the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat to Amarinder Singh by nearly 90,000 votes. Amarinder recently resigned from his Lok Sabha membership in protest against the Supreme Court order on the Sutlej Yamuna Link canal issue. Now he will be leading Punjab Congress in the upcoming state assembly elections and is looking to become chief minister for the second time.

On Thursday, he openly challenged Jaitley to contest Lok Sabha by-election from Amritsar while criticizing the demonetisation move of the Centre.
