The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vinay Katiyar targeted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over the Babri Masjid issue on Friday. A couple of days after the Supreme Court, on the appeal filed by CBI, restored the criminal conspiracy charges against senior BJP leaders including Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti in the Babri Masjid Demolition case, Katiyar mocked the agency. He said the CBI has created a conspiracy in the issue (His words: CBI ne rachi hai sazish,wo khula chhoota saand hai. Kam se kam humari sarkar mein toh khula saand ho gya hai CBI).
The apex court on Wednesday, while levelling criminal conspiracy charges against senior BJP leaders, made it clear that no adjournment in the case would be given under normal circumstances and no judge hearing the case would be transferred. After the SC directives, the BJP decided to tread cautiously on the matter asking its leaders to downplay its import in public, reported news agency PTI. Union minister Arun Jaitley had on Thursday in a press meet said that the case has been going on since 1993 and that no new situation has arisen. So the situation which was prevailing will continue, Jaitley told reporters. He had also had virtually ruled out the resignation of Uma Bharti following the court order.
Earlier, Uma Bharti herself also refused to resign after SC decision and declared that she was a proud participant in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. She also slammed Opposition party Congress who demanded her resignation, as per PTI. Replying on the issue, the Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation asserted that the Congress had no right to demand her resignation.
