Infosys co-founder and former Chairman of UIDAI, Nandan Nilekani, said that the world has changed and the focus is ‘more on consumer than on enterprise’. In an interview with ET Now, Nilekani said that the IT industry in India will be robust and successful, even though the slowdown in the United States and Europe might change the IT landscape growth in the country. The Morningstar Investment Conference, now in its sixth year, is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on October 18 and October 19 this year, where Nilekani is one of the speakers. In the interview with ET Now, Nilekani laid out the points on which he is going to speak at the conference. He said that he will speak on how technology will bring a revolution to the financial services. He said that he will speak on the effect of the participants on the investment conference as “we have mutual fund distributors, mutual fund producers and independent advisors who advise people on buying mutual funds”. He said that he will bring forth the ways in which technology is going to change lives and generate a lot more opportunities for them.

The conference brings together financial industry experts, professionals and asset managers to bring out their views, insights, analysis and generate debates on many issues. Speaking on Aadhaar, Nilekani in the interview said that he left the government two years back and now just volunteers in that sector. He worked there for four and a half years and ‘laid the foundation for Aadhaar with 600 million people’ which the new government took forward. According to him, the Aadhaar has crossed the billion people landmark. He said that the present government is working on using the platform for more innovations. He also said that the ‘direct benefit transfer for LPG’ has been highly successful and there are many kinds of subsidies which are ‘amenable to DBT approach’.

According to Nilekani, the Aadhaar has crossed the billion people landmark. He said that the present government is working on using the platform for more innovations. He also said that the ‘direct benefit transfer for LPG’ has been highly successful and there are many kinds of subsidies which are ‘amenable to DBT approach’.
