Authorities later identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old man believed to be from Torrance, California. According to officials, he may have been a guest at the hotel hosting the event.

Shortly after the incident, Trump addressed the situation at a press briefing, saying the suspect was carrying multiple weapons and describing him as a “lone wolf,” “whack job,” and “crazy.” He also shared security footage that showed the suspect running through metal detectors before being confronted by law enforcement. “He was a blur on tape,” Trump said, pointing to how the shooting happened.
