Indian equity benchmarks closed Thursday’s trade for the fifth consecutive session. The Nifty 50 closed the day 166 points or 0.66% lower at 24,890, and the Sensex fell 555 points or 0.68% to end at 81,160.
Similarly, the Nifty Bank settled 145 points or 0.26% lower at 54,976. The small and midcap stocks also see cuts. The BSE Midcap declined 330 points, or 0.72%, at 45,641.47. On the other hand, the BSE Smallcap finished 401 points or 0.75% lower at 53,372.88.

Indices in intraday trade
The indices closed Thursday’s session on a positive note. During the session, out of 3,125 trading stocks, 912 advanced, while 2,124 declined, and 89 remained unchanged. Today, 53 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high. Meanwhile, 77 stocks touched a new 52-week low.
Top gainers
Bharat Electronics was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 in Thursday’s session, closing 2.07% higher. It was followed by Hero MotoCorp, Hindalco, ONGC, and Axis Bank.
Top losers
Trent’s shares were the biggest losers in today’s trade, declining 3.61%. It was followed by Power Grid Corp, Tata Motors, TCS, Asian Paints, and many others.
