Jaana Dogan who is the Principal engineer at Google and Lead at the Gemini API, recently went viral online after her post on ‘X’. The viral post that garenered over 7 million views explained how Anthropic’s Claude Code could easily replicate a complex distributed agent orchestrator project in just one hour. This however took Jaana’s team at Google over an year to refine.

After her post on ‘X’ Anthropic Claude Code has come into the spotlight and has raised concerns among software engineers who say that coding jobs are now over. From now onwards there will be increased use of AI in coding. Many developers are now involved in a debate on ‘X’ about the increasing influence of AI tools in software engineering and concepts like Vibe Coding gaining traction.

What did Claude Code do?

Jaana Dogan explained in her post how Claude Code could perform the given task in an hour which took her team almost an year. She says that upon giving the command line tool a description of her team’s multi agent orchestration challenge the outcome was instant. Jaana Dogan says “I’m not joking, and this isn’t funny,”. Jaana Dogan wrote. “It generated what we built last year in an hour.” This reaction of her has sparked debate online within developers community since some praised the productivity boost that Claude Code offers. On the other hand some feel worried about the commodisation of coders skills.

Social Media Reactions?

A software engineer named Andrew Duca wrote, “The skill I spent 10,000s of hours getting good at Programming. The thing I spent most of my life getting good at. Is becoming a full commodity extremely quickly. As much fun as it is. And as much as I like using the tools. There’s something disheartening about the thing you spent most of your life getting good at. Now being mostly useless.”

Another hyped the coding abilities of Claude Code, claiming that now anyone can build an app. In a hyperbole typical of social media, this person wrote: “If you’re not on Claude Code right now you will literally fail in life, I’m not even kidding 13 year olds are building million dollar startups with Claude Code.”

Another one joked that everyone is a coder now. A user named Xeer wrote, “Just woke up and everyone on the (timeline) is a professional Claude vibe coder? what happened here while I was asleep?”

The Road Ahead

While an AI coder as good as what people are terming Claude Code is bound to boost productivity for many tech companies, it is also going to spark existential fears among many software engineers. These fears are already in the minds of workers and the latest debate around vibecode.dev is only going to add to it.
