After listing the appalling effects of Coca-Cola and Diet Coke on the human body by Niraj Naik recently, scientists have now shown what beer can do… and it’s shocking!

A website called alcoholgifts.co.uk has disclosed what happens up to 24 hours after drinking beer, the Daily Star reported.

1. Within 5 minutes of sipping alcohol, it is absorbed into the bloodstream and then travels all over the body including the brain and around muscles.

2. After 10 minutes, the body sees the alcohol as a poison, and hence aims to break it down to get rid of it as quickly as possible

3. After 15 minutes thereafter teh body produces the enzyme ‘Alcohol dehydrogenase’ which converts the alcohol into chemicals including Acetaldehyde (a toxin which contributes largely to the hangover felt the next day), then into acetic acid and finally fatty acids and water (the final two the body likes).

4. Though a person sobers up after this, if they drink more than the liver can handle, they get drunk.

5. 20 minutes later, alcohol starts affecting the senses, light headedness is increasingly felt, happiness among other emotions creep in.

6. After 45 minutes alcohol level starts to peak in the blood.

7. When 1 hour is complete, people generally feel like relieving themselves as alcohol is a diuretic, kidneys direct the drink directly to the bladder, which causes the need to go to the toilet more often and this dehydrates you.

8. If a person stops drinking, they’re likely to feel sleepy although the quality of sleep won’t be good.

9. When person wakes up after 12-24 hours, they’ll likely feel symptoms of a hangover such as headaches, dizziness, thirst, paleness and tremors, most of which are caused by dehydration.

10. Excess alcohol in the system, needless to say, is quite a burden on the body.
