Shah Rukh Khan gets Global Style Icon award: If there’s one man who can make a black blazer feel cinematic and a scarf feel iconic, it’s Shah Rukh Khan. With all eyes on Dubai, the billionaire superstar is set to be honoured with the Global Style Icon Award today, January 30. Dining with the sheikhs, he was spotted leaving for Dubai yesterday at the Mumbai airport. The honour, what feels like a full circle moment, feels like a long-overdue standing ovation. From Bandra to Broadway-level red carpets, from Filmfare to the Met Gala, SRK’s fashion journey has always mirrored his effortless stardom and influential charm.

Just last year, he marked his debut at fashion’s biggest night out at the Met Gala 2025. One of the highlights for India, he was dressed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, a legend, staple, and a mandate for the red carpet showbiz. His black ensemble blended regal Indian craftsmanship with a signature ‘K’ necklace, which won’t be forgotten by fashion critics anytime soon.

Long before “quiet luxury” or “old money” aesthetics became buzzwords, Shah Rukh Khan was shaping Indian men’s fashion. From the layered sweaters and leather jackets of the early 2000s to today’s sharp tailoring, tinted glasses, and unapologetic confidence. More than trends or labels, SRK has taught generations that true style is about presence, personality, and owning who you are.

Here’s a look at SRK’s best fashion moments of all time

Filmfare looks to red carpet moments

Owning the black colour like it is made for him, Shah Rukh Khan truly embodied the leather trend in 1996. In his ‘Badshah’ aesthetic, he adorned a leather jacket and silver chain, giving off a bold and magnetic vibe.

Years later in 2003, Khan sported a black suit with an unforgettable lilac tie. Turning heads, he tied his look together with a pop of colour. Moving away from the trend, he switched up to a white tux a decade later as he wore a white tuxedo with a black waistcoat, nothing short of a Hollywood monochrome glamour.

Switching up to Indian, Khan wore a velvet bandhgala in 2016, marking the peak of dhoti trousers. The look quickly became the new ‘Indo-Western’, and the daring fusion-combo became a common outfit for Indian men at weddings and special ethnic moments.

His recent looks exuded more of a timeless charm in a deep burgundy tux, with suave minimalism and quiet luxury. But some of looks from movies will remain timeless moments in pop culture, beyond couture, paparazzi flashes and designer labels, trickling down casually to the thrift shops.

Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Bollywood looks

King Khan became the flag bearer of the graphic tea long before streetwear became a mainstream aesthetic in menswear. 1993’s Baazigar brought graphic t-shirts and printed jeans to the silver screen which revived his rebellion spirit – giving an identity to 90s teens.

It was later in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge his leather jacket NRI fashion went viral. Every other ‘Rahul’ wanted to be the next hip guy with a leather jacket, flared jeans, and boots, waiting to woo their Simran away.

Campus cool started as Karan Johar’s era took over Dharma Productions. Featuring the timeless COOL necklace, SRK’s costume became the very definition of the word. Logo heavy shirts, collared tshirts, baggy jeans, and men’s jewellery. Khan has often been an accessorising icon, be it ear cuffs, studs, or layered necklaces, perfectly captured in Met Gala 2025 look. What’s left to see is, will he make a comeback at the 2026 carpet this year.

Early 2000s brought the punk-rock edgy fashion with SRK in Josh. Dominated with shades and bandana, the leather jacket made a comeback yet again with the new decade. Popularised among teenagers, the bandana became the coolest new trend on the shelf.

One cannot mention SRK’s fashion and skip Mohabattein’s iconic sweater around the shoulder moment. The preppy progessor chic inspired many fashion enthusiasts to explore the sweater drape as an accessory. While his romance with black remained a staple across his public appearances, SRK has played a range of colour characters, from popularising the military camouflage among the millennials to see through deep cuts from Om Shanti Om, he has truly been a style icon of decades.
