Congress MLA Anil Akkara dropped a ‘bombshell’ of sorts when he said today in the state assembly that the phones of political leaders are being tapped. It is a rare instance when a Congress MLA points out in the state assembly that not just his phone, but even the phones of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan are being tapped and that there has been no action taken despite complaint. The big question remains – who is behind this and why. Congress MLA Anil Akkara also stated, “The Chief Minister’s phones have also been tapped and police have not taken any action in this regard.”
Congress MLA further stated that the phones of 27 leaders from both the Ruling and the Opposition parties are being tapped but he did not name who is behind this alleged tapping. “My phone is being tapped. Senior leaders’ phones are being tapped and this includes even the Chief Minister and MLAs in this assembly. I had raised these concerns and I complained to BSNL about this but no action was taken,” Congress MLA Anil Akkara informed the state assembly today.

However, some questions remain – Who is tapping their phones and why? How is it possible that the Chief Minister’s phones are being tapped and no one is aware of it, not even the intelligence agencies or the Kerala police These are serious issues and Congress MLA Anil Akkara needs to explain how he received this information, what communication has been exchanged with BSNL so far and whether this was escalated to the Kerala police for further action, before raising it in the state assembly as an issue today.
