Monsoon Weather Report Today Live Updates: While Mumbai has reported 300 mm of rains, flood situation has affected over 20 lakh people in Assam. Landslides have been reported from Arunachal Pradesh to Uttarakhand. Apart from Mumbai, Goa has also shut down schools due to heavy rains.
In Bihar, separate cases of lightning strikes killed 12 people, taking the toll from such incidents to 20 since the start of the month, a state government official said. (Reuters)

Release of water from dams in Uttarakhand and widespread rainfall in river catchment areas caused severe flooding in several districts in the Terai region and the plains of Uttar Pradesh, an official report said on Monday. Many villages in Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, Kushinagar, Balrampur, Shravasti and Gond districts have been affected by floods due to widespread rainfall in river catchment areas and the release of dam water. The civic body announced that Powai Lake, a crucial reservoir in the BMC area, began overflowing around 4:45 a.m. today due to heavy rainfall. "Powai Lake, one of the key artificial lakes within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) jurisdiction, started overflowing at approximately 4:45 a.m. today. With a storage capacity of 545 crore litres, the lake's water is designated solely for industrial use," the BMC posted on X.
Officials say that rail traffic has been restored on Harbour Line, which is key route of Mumbai local.

Apart from more rains, Mumbai will witness a 4.40 m high tide in the sea around 2 pm, the IMD said in the latest update.
Maharashtra assembly speaker Rahul Narwekar on Monday adjourned the House till 1 pm in view of several MLAs and ministers unable to reach the legislature complex in south Mumbai due to heavy rains. Assam’s flood situation remained dire on Monday, affecting nearly 2.3 million people across 28 districts as most rivers continued to flow above the danger mark, according to an official bulletin.
