Southern Railway has announced a significant enhancement for passengers traveling on Train No. 16336/16335 Nagercoil – Gandhidham BG – Nagercoil Express. Starting from November 26, 2024, for departures from Nagercoil, and November 29, 2024, from Gandhidham BG, the train will operate with modern LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) coaches.
Improved Safety and Comfort
The transition from conventional rakes to LHB coaches is aimed at boosting passenger safety and ensuring a more comfortable journey. Known for their advanced design, LHB coaches are anti-telescopic and provide better crashworthiness, reducing the risk of coaches piling up in case of an accident. Additionally, passengers will benefit from smoother rides due to enhanced suspension systems.
Revised Coach Composition
Southern Railway has detailed the new composition for the Nagercoil – Gandhidham Express:
- 1 AC Two Tier Coach
- 5 AC Three Tier Coaches
- 11 Sleeper Class Coaches
- 2 General Second Class Coaches
- 1 Second Class Coach (Divyangjan Friendly)
- 1 Luggage cum Brake Van
The Divyangjan-friendly coach will include features to accommodate differently-abled passengers, making train travel more inclusive and accessible.
Southern Railway emphasised that this upgrade is part of Indian Railways’ broader mission to modernize the fleet and improve the overall travel experience
