The Howrah-Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper Express has begun its regular commercial run today, with the Kamakhya-to-Howrah service starting operations on January 22, whereas the Howrah-to Kamakhya operations will begin today (January 23). Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the train on January 17.

As per Eastern Railways, bookings started on January 20 for train 27575 (Howarah-Kamakhya) and seats/berths started filling up quickly, with berths reported to be near exhaustion till January 2026. The strong demand has been in view of the upcoming holiday period and tourism potential along the route interlinking South Bengal with North Bengal and Assam.

Howrah-Kamakhya train route and stoppages

The Howrah-Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper has a total of 13 stoppages. These stoppages are Bandel, Katwa, Nabadwip Dham, New Farakka, Azimganj, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Alubari Road, Azimganj, New Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri Road, New Bongaigaon, New Alipurduar, and Rangiya.

The tentative journey will take around 14 hours, with train 27575 scheduled to depart from Howrah at 18:12 hrs and arrive at Kamakhya at 8:20 hrs the next day. On its return trip, train 27576 is scheduled to leave Kamakhya at 18:15 hrs and will reach Howrah at 08:15 hrs the following day.

Details on Howrah-Kamakhya train ticket prices, capacity and days of operation

The ticket prices (Guwahati/Kamakhya to Howrah) are Rs 3,855 for 1 AC, Rs 3,145 for 2 AC, and Rs 2,435 for 3 AC, with similar charges likely to be applied on the reverse direction as well.

Eastern Railway, meanwhile, has highlighted the onboard accommodation and demand signals for the service. As per its press release, the Vande Bharat has 24 berths in 1 AC, 188 in 2 AC, and 611 in 3 AC, a total of 832 berths. It also mentioned that occupancy for January for 23 and 24 was showing almost 100%, projecting strong potential for sleeper Vande Bharat services as popular travel options.

As per the schedule, Eastern Railway stated that the Howrah-Kamakhya-Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper (train numbers 27575/27576) will run six days a week and will operate on all days except Thursday from Howrah, and all days except Wednesday from Kamakhya.
