The HTC U11 has now begun receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update in India. As promised, HTC India on Tuesday announced on Twitter that the Android 8.0 Oreo update is “live” and the rollout has already started for the HTC U11 devices. The HTC U11 recently received the Android 8.0 Oreo in Taiwan but it is rolling out to other countries now. The update is rolling out in batches, so the users should keep an eye on the update notifications on their HTC U11.

As we said, the HTC U11 Android 8.0 Oreo is rolling out to users incrementally, which means that a portion of users will get the update before other users. The Android 8.0 Oreo update for the HTC U11 is 1.48GB in size and bears the version number 3.16.708.3. In order to update the HTC U11, the users will have to keep checking their software update app for the new firmware version.

The Android 8.0 Oreo update will bring several Android Oreo features to the HTC U11 such as notification channels, notifications dots, Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode, revamped launch interface, app shortcuts, and improved battery optimisation among others. The new update is also likely to address the burger emoji, the corrected version of which should have the patty inside the bread with the cheese slice atop.

The HTC U11 was launched in June last year running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The specifications and features of the HTC U11 include the Edge Sense functionality, BoomSound Hi-Fi speakers, four omnidirectional microphones, and more. The HTC U11 comes with a 5.5-inch quad-HD (1440×2560 pixels) Super LCD display. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt memory. The HTC U11 sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with OIS, f/1.7 aperture, a dual-LED flash. There is a 16-megapixel selfie camera with features like Face Detection, Pro Mode with manual control, and RAW format support on the HTC U11. The phone packs a 3000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
