A video of a protester climbing onto the balcony of the Iranian embassy in west London has gone viral on social media. It pictures hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the official building in droves, with flags in their hands while anti-government slogans consume the air.
The demonstrations in Iran entered their 13th consecutive day on Friday, marking the biggest such opposition to the current regime in years. Just a day before that, authorities blocked internet access and telephone lines, thereby cutting off Iran from the rest of the world.
Although the protests were first triggered over inflation consuming the country, the situation has since been exacerbated with many calling for an end to the Islamic Republic, which came to power after the popular 1979 revolution. Even calls for the restoration of the monarchy have been raised throughout these anti-government developments.
According to the US-based Iranian Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), at least 116 people have been killed in the protests in Iran as of Saturday. Additionally, more than 2,600 have been detained in connection with Iran-related protests.

The clip currently taking over the Internet particularly sheds light on an anti-regime protester tearing down the Islamic Republic’s flag installed over Iran’s Embassy in London on Saturday. After pulling it down, the man is seen replacing it with Iran’s pre-1979 ‘Lion and Sun’ emblem, as per the video.
The historic flag in question is associated with the pre-1979 Islamic Revolution Iran’s monarchy.
Eventually addressing the matter at hand, the embassy took to its official X account to post a photo of the Iranian flag being put back in its place.

Iran protests: Trump speaks out
Given the current state of things, protests on international grounds have also commenced to show solidarity with Iranian demonstrators. In addition to some taking place in European cities like Paris and Berlin, one such protest was also held outside the White House in Washington, DC, USA.
Over the week, US President Donald Trump also shared a Fox News report about the now-viral protester scaling the Iranian Embassy in London via his Truth Social platform. Before that, he addressed the Iran issue at a press conference in Washington, DC.
On Friday (US time), he said, “Iran’s in big trouble. It looks to me that the people are taking over certain cities that nobody thought were really possible just a few weeks ago. We’re watching the situation very carefully.”
He even issued a major warning, adding that the US would respond accordingly if mass violence was executed by the regime. “We’ll be hitting them very hard where it hurts,” Trump said. “And that doesn’t mean boots on the ground, but it means hitting them very, very hard where it hurts.”
The MAGA leader has since even posted on Truth Social: “Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help!!!”
