Indian equity benchmarks closed Monday’s trade higher, with banking stocks being the star performers. The Nifty 50 closed the day 183 points or 0.74% higher at 25,078, and the Sensex jumped 583 points or 0.72% to end at 81,790.
The Nifty Bank outperformed the benchmarks to settle 515 points or 0.93% higher at 56,104. The midcap stocks also surged in today’s trade. The BSE Midcap declined 310 points, or 0.68%, at 45,988.20. However, the BSE Smallcap finished 104 points or 0.20% lower at 53,270.61.

Indices in intraday trade
The indices closed Monday’s session on a positive note. During the session, out of 3,216 trading stocks, 1,386 advanced, while 1,730 declined, and 100 remained unchanged. Today, 113 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high. Meanwhile, 73 stocks touched a new 52-week low.
Top gainers
Max Healthcare was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 in Thursday’s session, closing 6.3% higher. It was followed by Shriram Finance, TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Apollo Hospitals.
Top losers
Trent’s shares were the biggest losers in today’s trade, declining 2.3%. It was followed by Tata Steel, Adani Ports and SEZ, Power Grid Corp, Eicher Motors, and many others.
