Indian equity indices opened Thursday’s trading session on a higher note. The NSE Nifty 50 opened 22 points or 0.09% higher at 25,068. The BSE Sensex opened 91 points or 0.11% higher at 81,864.

The Bank Nifty opened 59 points or 0.11% lower at 55,959. Following the benchmarks, the small and midcap stocks opened the day higher. The Nifty Midcap rose 152 points or 0.26% to open at 58,019.

Early gainers and laggards

In early trade, among the Nifty 50, top gainers at this hour were Dr Reddy’s Lab, Zomato (Eternal), HCL Technologies, Sun Pharma, and Infosys. On the flip side, the key laggards in the Nifty 50 pack included Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, NTPC, Power Grid Corp, and Shriram Finance

Stocks in radar

JSW Cement said it has commissioned a 1 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) capacity cement grinding unit at Sambalpur in Odisha. The unit, which will take the company’s total installed capacity to 21.6 MTPA, is being commissioned through its subsidiary, Shiva Cement.

Lupin said it will set up a new manufacturing facility in Coral Springs, Florida, entailing an investment of $250 million. With an estimated collective investment of $250 million, including research & development, infrastructure and capital expenditures over a five-year period, the new site will have the capacity to accommodate the production of more than 25 critical respiratory medicines, the Mumbai-based drug maker said in a regulatory filing.

Senco Gold saw 6.5% growth in revenue in Q2 of FY26 as compared to the same quarter last year. This performance was achieved amidst factors like a high base effect due to a customs duty cut in Q2 FY25, a Shraddh season (September 7th to 21st), and a shift of consumer demand for a certain section of consumers towards capital goods due to a significant GST reduction.
