Vivo’s X100 series will make its India debut on January 4, 2024. The lineup is coming to India about a month after breaking cover in global markets following its initial unveiling in China in November 2023. We can expect two phones— for now— with the top-shelf X100 Pro taking charge as Vivo’s most spec-heavy phone at the time of writing even as the seemingly more regular X100 tries to offer the same experience at a relatively more affordable pricing.
While spin-off iQOO is making headlines for giving buyers first dibs at Qualcomm’s fastest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with the recently launched iQOO 12, Vivo is offering what is potentially the most powerful zoom camera on a smartphone in the world through the X100 Pro.
Vivo X100, X100 Pro: what to expect
The X100 and X100 Pro have a lot in common. The major difference comes by way of cameras. Both phones are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chip and share the same 6.78-inch 1.5K resolution, 120Hz AMOLED display with up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. They’re both IP68 rated for water and dust resistance and have an in-display fingerprint reader for biometrics.
The X100 Pro gets a more powerful 50-megapixel 1-inch IMX989 VCS bionic sensor paired to an f/1.75 aperture lens with optical image stabilisation, another 50-megapixel 150-degree field-of-view ultrawide, and 50-megapixel periscope telephoto certified by ZEISS APO for 4.3x optical and up to 100x digital zoom. The X100 has a 50-megapixel 1/ 1.49-inch IMX920 VCS bionic sensor paired to an f/1.57 aperture lens with optical image stabilisation, 64-megapixel f/2.57 aperture telephoto aperture for 3x optical zoom. It has the same 50-megapixel ultrawide as the pro model.
Both phones have the same 32-megapixel front camera. The X100 Pro has a 5,400mAh battery with 120W fast wired and 50W wireless charging while the X100 has a bit smaller 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging only. Running the show is Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14.
