Motorola announced today that it will launch the Moto Edge 50 Pro in India on April 3. Details shared over email confirm that it will be a global first, which given all the information doing the rounds of the internet only corroborates that it won’t be a rebranded X50 Ultra from China.

The company has been teasing the Edge 50 Pro for some time now. The phone in fact has been revealed in almost its entirety through Flipkart. Though, the choice of chip was a mystery. Motorola did drop the Easter egg quite early on, confirming the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 for an upcoming phone but since these “pro” phones have been known to feature Snapdragon 8-series processors, doubts remained if a second phone was also incoming.

Adding fuel to speculation was Motorola’s recent announcement that the China-bound X50 Ultra will have the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 at the helm. Going by history, the same was expected from the India-bound Edge 50 Pro (and global Edge Plus 2024). A Geekbench listing spotted online has however dropped the ball on the choice of chip which is very likely to be the 7 Gen 3 and so, chances are the Edge 50 Pro won’t be a full-on flagship like its predecessors and fall more in line with a flagship killer.

Anyhow, the Edge 50 Pro is confirmed to come with a 6.7-inch pOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. Motorola is promising up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and support for HDR10+ playback. The phone will come with an in-display fingerprint reader. The display will further be validated by Pantone. It will come in three colours.

The Edge 50 Pro will further come with several “intelligent” camera features including adaptive stabilisation, auto focus tracking, AI photo enhancement, and tilt mode. The main camera will use an unspecified 50-megapixel sensor. The Edge 50 Pro will also feature a 10-megapixel telephoto for 50x hybrid zoom.
