In 1998, Tata’s cosmetics company Lakmé, established in 1952, acquired Littlewoods International (India) Private Limited (LIIPL), a clothing retail company, from the UK-based Littlewoods International Limited. Subsequently, the merging of Lakmé Exports Limited and LIIPL led to the formation of Trent Limited. In the same year, Tata divested their Lakmé shares to HUL. In essence, Trent Limited, a retail entity in India housing various brands and owned by the Tata Group, oversees its flagship retail destination now known as Westside. According to reports, Westside, a part of Trent Limited, stands as one of the country’s largest and rapidly expanding retail chains.
