Construction is now officially underway at “Dharmendra House,” the legendary Juhu residence that has been the heart of the Deol family for decades. In a major move to accommodate their expanding household, brothers Sunny and Bobby Deol are adding a fourth floor to the sprawling bungalow. The property, a landmark in one of Mumbai’s most expensive neighborhoods, is currently valued at approximately Rs 60 crore.

This big renovation comes at a very personal time for the family. It has been just about two months since the passing of the legendary actor Dharmendra, who died at the age of 89 on November 24, 2025. While the news of his death marked the end of an era for Indian cinema, the Deol family is keeping his legacy alive. By expanding the bungalow rather than moving to separate modern apartments, Sunny and Bobby are fulfilling their father’s long-held wish of keeping the family under one roof.

Construction at the Deol estate

Recent activity at the Juhu compound has caught the eyes of many. Large cranes have been stationed at the premises, and worker crews are busy on the terrace level. Celebrity journalists and onlookers have noted that the construction is a full-scale vertical expansion.

Insiders suggest that the construction will take about four to five months to finish. The goal is to create more space for the younger generation. The Deol household is one of the last few joint families in Bollywood. Currently, the house is home to Prakash Kaur, Sunny Deol, his wife Pooja, and their sons Karan (who recently married Drisha Acharya) and Rajveer. Bobby Deol, his wife Tanya, and their two sons, Aryaman and Dharam.

Why the family needs more space

The decision to build upward comes down to simple logistics. With Karan Deol getting married and the other grandchildren reaching adulthood, the three existing floors were starting to feel a bit tight. A source close to the family explained the situation simply: “The kids are growing up and they need their own space.”

By adding another floor, the brothers are making sure that the entire clan can continue to live together while still having the privacy that a modern household requires. It allows the cousins to grow up together, just as Sunny and Bobby did.

A home built on memories

Dharmendra’s Juhu bungalow has never been a “flashy” or cold celebrity house. Unlike the glass-and-steel mansions often seen in Mumbai today, this home is famous for its warm, traditional vibes. The interiors, largely designed by Bobby’s wife Tanya Deol, are filled with heavy woodwork, vintage film posters, and walls covered in decades of family photos.

The house also has a massive wooden entrance gate and a lush, green garden that has been a favorite spot for family gatherings and social media posts. For the Deols, this house is full of memories, from grand weddings to the quiet moments Dharmendra spent there in his final days.
