Highest grossing Bollywood movies of 2025: Movies in 2025 have had it all – from period dramas with an ode of national heroes to sappy love stories. With rom-com patterns showing poor results, Indian cinema-goers showed affinity towards action-packed dramas, instead. However, with the most popular OTT show being Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, Ba***ds of Bollywood, there were a large section of Indians who preferred the meta humour, drama, and meme-worthy scenes.

As per official data from industry tracker Sacnilk and IMDb, here’s a curated list of the highest-grossing movies that made big waves at the box office and solidified themselves as 2025’s blockbuster movies. From the top 10 movies in the list, six of the films are dominated by action and thriller genres. There are largely only two light-hearted romantic films which made it to the top charts.

Biggest Bollywood blockbuster movies of 2025

Chhaava

The Laxman Utekar directorial, headlined by Vicky Kaushal is based on the historic tale of Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who valiantly fought the Mughals. With a gripping plot, Chhaava had intense visuals which required a dramatic dedication from the leading hero. Also starring Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, it marked his comeback in Bollywood after Dhrishyam 2. After grossing Rs 91 crore in overseas collections, Chhaava’s total box office collection touched Rs 808 crore worldwide. In India, it became Bollywood’s biggest film of 2025 by making Rs 601 crore with a thirteen week theatrical run.

Dhurandhar

Ranveer Singh made a mega comeback while Akshaye Khanna shined as yet another villain in 2025. This Aditya Dhar directorial became one of the biggest films highlighting nationalist themes and a spy-thriller like never before. Sacnilk reported that Dhurandhar’s two week collection crossed Rs 450 crore in India, as it neared the Rs 700 crore mark worldwide.

Saiyaara

Featuring debut performances from Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday, Saiyaara became the romantic-drama which not only ruled Bollywood box offices but also the playlists of many fans. The musical drama had a momentous theatrical run of 43 days and grossed over Rs 329 crore in India. With a Rs 171 overseas collection, the total tally touched nearly Rs 570 crore.

Sitaare Zameen Par

The much-awaited Aamir Khan film closely dealt with the social stigma of specially-abled children. A Bollywood adaptation of a Hollywood film, Khan worked closely with down syndrome individuals and helped shed light on their issues. Loaded with controversy around the OTT release, Khan, who believes that the premature distribution negatively affects the box office collection, decided to roll out the film on YouTube. The box office numbers looked hopeful as it grossed more than Rs 267 crore worldwide.

Raid 2

Ajay Devgn made a dramatic comeback as Income Tax Officer Amay Patnaik and had a successful theatrical run of 50 days. Making over Rs 237 crore globally, the Raj Kumar Gupta directorial released in May 2025. Featuring Rietesh Deshmukh, Raid 2 followed as a sequel after more than a decade.

Housefull 5

One of the first Bollywood movies to have a dual ending, this Akshay Kumar starrer rolled out two endings – Housefull 5A and 5B – as two separate versions of the film. With a five week run at the theatres, Housefull 5 made over Rs 280 crore internationally, including a Rs 183 crore gross in India.

War 2

The sequel to one of Bollywood’s most stylish action franchises, War 2 arrived with sky-high expectations and delivered on spectacle. Power-packed with action, the Hrithik Roshan starrer dominated the action genre in 2025. It raked in an impressive Rs 237 crore in India, while its worldwide collection climbed to Rs 365 crore.

Sikandar

Salman Khan’s comeback had one of the biggest mass appeals in Bollywood this year. Sikandar struck a chord with audiences, as positive reviews roared loud. The film enjoyed a steady theatrical run, collecting Rs 110 crore domestically and Rs 184 crore worldwide. While it didn’t rely on extravagant scale, Sikandar benefited from strong word of mouth and consistent footfalls.

Sky Force

Aerial action and patriotic fervour defined Sky Force, which tapped into the audience’s fondness for high-stakes war dramas. Featuring Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, and Akshay Kumar, the film performed well across key centres, earning Rs 112 crore in India. It closed its global run at Rs 150 crore, blending the romantic-action plot to perfection.
