The hype for Sunny Deol’s return in Border 2 has been incredible, and the film is now marching toward a massive milestone. After a historic start at the theaters over the long Republic Day weekend, the film saw its first natural dip in daily earnings this Wednesday. Even with the midweek slowdown, the movie remains a powerhouse at the box office, with experts now predicting it will comfortably cross the Rs 300 crore mark in the coming days.
Border 2 box office collection day 6
On its sixth day of release, the movie earned around Rs 13 crore across India. While this is a drop compared to the record-breaking numbers seen over the holiday, it shows that the film is holding steady. According to trade tracking site Sacnilk, the Sunny Deol-starrer earned an estimated Rs 13 crore nett on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
This brings the film’s total India nett collection to Rs 213 crore. When looking at the total money coming in before taxes, the gross India collection has reached a strong Rs 239.75 crore.
On Wednesday, theaters saw an average occupancy of about 16 per cent. While the morning shows were a bit quiet as people headed back to work, the crowds picked up significantly in the evening and night. For a big-budget film, maintaining double-digit earnings on a working Wednesday is a very positive sign.
Border 2: Story, cast and more
Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by T-Series and J.P. Films, Border 2 had a lot of expectations to meet. Serving as the follow-up to the legendary 1997 war drama, the film features a strong cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh. The story once again draws from the 1971 war, striking a chord with audiences across the country. Even with the Wednesday dip, the film has easily outperformed other recent holiday hits like Fighter and Sky Force, proving that the Border brand is still incredibly strong.
Border 2 weekend collections
The first few days of the film’s journey were nothing short of legendary. It kicked off on Friday with over Rs 32 crore, and the momentum only grew. By Sunday, it collected over Rs 57 crore, and Monday, boosted by the Republic Day holiday, hit a massive peak of over Rs 63 crore. While that holiday rush has started to cool off, the sheer volume of tickets sold in the first five days has put the film in a very elite club. All eyes are now on the second weekend to see how fast it can hit that Rs 300 crore goal.
Border 3 on the cards?
With the film proving to be a massive success, the creators are already looking at what comes next. Producer Bhushan Kumar recently shared that the overwhelming love from fans, even 30 years after the original, has made them confident about the future. He confirmed that a joint venture is in the works and that Border 3 is officially on the cards. For now, the industry is watching to see if Border 2 can maintain this steady pace and potentially challenge the lifetime records of Sunny Deol’s other recent blockbuster, Gadar 2.
