The researchers at Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Noida develop an AI based software for male fertility detection, the technology is developed by the Priyanka Narad and Abhishek Sengupta, as per the press release.
Furthermore, the University signed a technology transfer agreement with a Pune based biotech company, APS Life Tech for transferring this technology, it added.
“Male infertility is on the rise and we aim to export this technology to other countries also, thereby ensuring that it reaches the maximum number of people. Technology Transfer should be done very carefully, bearing in mind the impact the technology will have on the end user and how is he going to benefit from the technology. Identifying the gaps and needs in the market is the first step for developing new technologies which can fill those gaps,” Paritosh Shekhar, founder, chairman, APS Life Tech, Pune, said.
A Panel Discussion on the topic, ‘Strategies to increase the technology readiness Levels (TRLs) in the University Ecosystem’ was also held wherein experts shared their views.
“The AI based software is a machine learning based algorithm for prediction of outcomes in men with Y chromosome microdeletions. It is a user-friendly productive tool that allows clinicians/geneticists/patients to know the outcome of Automatic Terminal Recognition (ATR) when there is a Y chromosome (male chromosome) microdeletion. The software will allow to detect the level of male fertility, more precisely, efficiently and accurately,” Priyanka Narad and Abhishek Sengupta, Amity Institute of Biotechnology, explained.
