Amid the poll frenzy in Telangana, all political parties are leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s latest remarks at the Nizamabad poll rally has sparked a massive controversy. On Tuesday, PM Modi had claimed that BRS was interested in joining hands with the NDA.
In contrast to PM Modi’s claim, Telangana’s Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s son, Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao, also the state IT Minister, said that it was actually BJP that wanted to tie up with the BRS. As a reply to PM Modi’s claim, KTR posted on X saying, “BRS has never allied with anyone during polls ever since Telangana was formed, despite several requests… In 2018, the Biggest Jhoota Party, through its state president, Dr. K. Laxman sent feelers to ally with BRS. Could the offer have been made without the approval of his Delhi bosses?”.
While addressing the rally on October 3, PM Modi had said, “After the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, KCR came to meet me in Delhi and said that he wanted to join the NDA. He also asked me to extend support to him. I told him (KCR) that due to his deeds, we cannot be associated with him.” He also claimed that he had rejected the invitation.
The Bharatiya Rashtriya Samiti, formerly named Telangana Rashtra Samithi, had rejected all the claims with a sharp reply, saying, “Why should BRS ally with a party that didn’t even get deposits in 105 assembly segments? Why does BRS need the support of BJP in GHMC elections when we had the strength to form on our own? We are fighters not cheaters.” Rama Rao has even called out PM Modi as a patient of ‘selective amnesia’.
Adding to the chaos, Congress Chief Leader Revanth Reddy said on Tuesday that he always suspected BJP and BRS ties, and now it has been proved in front of everyone. He commented, “There is no need to specifically mention or doubt their [BRS and BJP] friendship now that the PM himself has come out openly about their hidden deals. Telangana people should understand the dark deal between the BRS and BJP and take a wise decision in the upcoming elections,” as per TNIE.
