Sachin Tendulkar and Chris Martin meet school children in Mumbai, speak about importance of hygiene

Sachin Tendulkar on Friday met Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin in the Kurla-Boys and Girls school in Mumbai.

Sachin Tendulkar on Friday met Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin in the Kurla-Boys and Girls school in Mumbai. Sachin’s wife Dr Anjali Tendulkar along with CEO of Global Citizens, Hugh Evans, Madhukeshwar Desai, National Vice President of the Yuvamorcha and state minister Poonam Mahan were also present on the occasion. Sachin, who is a UNICEF Brand Ambassador, took the stage to talk about the importance of cleanliness. Martin too joined him on the stage and spoke about the necessity and importance of Global cleanliness.

The school children took the stage after the guests and spoke about sustainable developmental goals in Marathi and in English. The guests then turned to the Gadage Maharaj School on Friday afternoon between 1-2:45 pm, where Sachin and Chris Martin played cricket for about 30 minutes with the children. Chris Martin was seen bowling to Sachin. Martin and Sachin then proceeded to exchange signed bats and guitars.


The students then went on to demonstrate the importance of washing hands and the proper ways to do so in Marathi. Chris Martin too explained the reasons of being hygienic and explained how to do so in English. State Minister Poonam Mahajan also explained to the kids about the importance of cleanliness. Chris Martin’s Coldplay are to perform at the first Global Citizen Festival taking place in India at the MMRDA grounds in Mumbai on Saturday.


The festival is also expected to see the likes of Jay-Z, Demi Lovato and the Vamps, along with Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and A R Rehman taking the stage at the first edition of the festival. Almost 805 of the tickets for the festival was reported to have been distributed for free to those taking social causes in the support of the Global Citizen India’s drive of sanitation, education and gender equality campaigns across the nation.
