Passengers on the Western Line may experience delays till Friday (October 4) due to speed restrictions being implemented between Goregaon and Kandivali. Approximately 150-175 suburban trains are expected to be cancelled as a result of these restrictions, which are in place to facilitate construction work for the 5th and 6th railway lines between Ram Mandir and Kandivali stations.
“Due to this, about 150-175 suburban trains will be cancelled. A total of 1,394 services are operated by WR over the Mumbai Suburban Section. Due to the unavailability of the Goregaon Loop Line, all four fast Goregaon morning services will remain cancelled. Inconvenience caused to passengers is deeply regretted,” Western Railway said in a post on X.
Western Railway announced that a speed restriction of 30 km/h will be imposed on all four lines (Up and Down Local, Up and Down Through) between the Ram Mandir, Goregaon, and Malad section due to the construction of the 5th and 6th railway lines. The post also mentioned that the speed limit will be gradually relaxed, and suburban services will return to normal by October 4, 2024, except during block periods.
Furthermore, in a press release shared by Western Railway, it was announced that all blocks at Goregaon and Malad stations will occur during the night of September 30 to October 1, 2024. The release, issued by Shri Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, stated that during the block period, trains will only run between Churchgate and Andheri, and between Virar and Borivali on all lines.
