In a potentially dangerous incident, an iron frame was found lying on railway tracks near Gwalior on Tuesday morning. The obstruction was spotted just in time by the driver of a goods train travelling from Jhansi to Agra, preventing what could have been a serious accident. The incident has prompted an investigation by the Government Railway Police (GRP).

The iron frame was discovered near Birla Nagar station, a critical location on the rail route. According to MP Thakkar, the officer in charge of the GRP police station, information about the obstruction was received around 4:30 AM from the deputy manager of Gwalior railway station. Immediate action was taken, with teams from the GRP, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and other railway officials rushing to the site to assess the situation.

Upon arrival, officials found a square iron frame placed directly on the tracks. Such an object could have derailed a train, leading to potentially disastrous consequences. Fortunately, the alertness of the train driver prevented the worst from happening. “The driver of the goods train, travelling to Uttar Pradesh, noticed the iron frame in time and promptly alerted railway authorities,” Thakkar said.

The discovery of the iron frame has raised concerns about possible sabotage or negligence. A case has been registered against an unidentified person under the Railways Act, and an investigation is underway to determine who placed the object on the tracks and with what intent.

The presence of the iron frame at such a critical location on the railway network, which handles a significant volume of passenger and freight trains, has led authorities to consider all possibilities, including foul play. The GRP and RPF are collaborating closely to gather any available evidence from the scene, including checking surveillance footage and questioning people in the vicinity of the tracks.

The incident has also sparked a security review of railway infrastructure in the region, as authorities seek to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. Thakkar stated, “We are treating this as a serious matter, and every effort is being made to identify and apprehend the person responsible for placing the iron frame on the tracks.”
