Financial Express Online on Thursday organised the third edition of FE Healthcare Summit. The sixth session, ‘Hospitals: Ideas that will shape the future of healthcare’, highlighted how the integrated healthcare landscape change.
The session included speakers like Dr BS Ajaikumar, Executive Chairman, HealthCare Global Enterprises, Dr Kaushal Verma, Dean, AIIMs, New Delhi, Pankaj Prakash Sahani, Group CEO & director, Medanta, and Dr Atul Mohan Kochhar, CEO, NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers).
The session was moderated by E Kumar Sharma, Deputy Editor, FE Digital, The Indian Express Group.
Dr BS Ajaikumar highlighted that there is a need to bridge the gap between rich and poor and make the accessibility of healthcare facilities uniform.
He also said that healthcare sector is very complex. “Transparency is very important…the patients should not be deceived,” he added.
Pankaj Sahani said that the problem is very complex and there is a need to address the issue at the granular level.
Dr Kaushal Verma emphasised that although institutions are available across the country, people come to AIIMS Delhi for treatment.
During the session, Dr Atul Mohan said that this is an unregulated industry. Meanwhile, Sahani said that there is need to renovate existing hospitals that are non-functional. “We have to understand that technology is tool…it should be delivered as an asset to the provider and see the patient can be catered to in a better way,” he added.
