The Navi Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (NMIAL) is looking for a vendor to supply Aviation Turbine Fuel (JET A-1) for testing purposes at the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), The Indian Express reported.

To this end, NMIAL has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) inviting bids from vendors authorised by the Government of India and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to distribute and sell aviation turbine fuel within the country.

The chosen vendor will be instrumental in supporting the airport’s operational readiness by supplying fuel needed for critical testing at its fuel farm. This testing phase is a significant milestone in the journey toward making the airport fully operational. Once operational, NMIA is expected to alleviate air traffic congestion in the Mumbai metropolitan region and boost regional connectivity.

In parallel with the fuel supply tender, NMIA recently completed testing of the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) system, an essential element of the airport’s aeronautical ground lighting. This system ensures pilots maintain the correct glide slope during landings.

With the successful calibration of the PAPI system, the South Runway is now closer to conducting the airport’s first flight trials. The first commercial aircraft landing at NMIA is projected for early 2025, following the completion of these trials.
